The Grand Lake Yacht Club, which was established in 1902 on Colorado's largest natural lake, needed to ensure its historic building would withstand the test of time for future generations. A major restoration project ensued, which comprised of fortifying the foundational pylons that held up the building, as well as replacing all siding, re-roofing, adding upper decks to the east and west sides of the building, and reconfiguring and updating the downstairs. The downstairs remodel included new bathrooms, a remodeled kitchen, a new bar area, new paint and a new floor, and an elevator installed for ADA access. The new downstairs floor plan found space for new closets and storage areas that were badly needed. MA Studios achieved all these renovations while preserving the historic integrity of the building. In addition, MA Studios was asked to design two new accessory buildings on the GLYC property for storing sailing boats and equipment used for sailing school. The Grand Lake Yacht Club financed these upgrades through a vigorous fundraising campaign among its own membership.
