MA Studios rehabilitated this historic Grand Lake vacation lake home originally built in the early 1900s by reexamining the footprint of the home and either adding or reconfiguring. The owners of this vacation lake home are a young family with generational ties to Grand Lake. They wanted to have full use of their investment, which meant modernizing and winterizing this formerly summer-only cabin, all while preserving its very rich historic nature. The project included the demolition of an old and insufficient garage to give way to a functional double garage with new above-garage living quarters that include a gathering space, bunkroom, and additional bedroom. The main goal was to preserve the incredible historic quality of this Grand Lake slab-bark-style home, indicative of the original Adirondack-style camps that were prevalent in the Northeast of the U.S., a style that found its way to the Grand Lake area in this early time period of settlement.
